Lauren J. Shanard, DDS, AAACD

Dr. Lauren J. Shanard is a dentist proudly serving residents in and around the Burlington area and greater New York. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Shanard has a passion for creating beautiful and healthy smiles using her skills in both artistry and advanced dentistry techniques. Her goal when treating patients at Contemporary Dental Arts is to create results that restore both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of their smiles. People travel from throughout Vermont to Dr. Shanard's practice in search of cosmetic, restorative, and general dentistry procedures. With accreditation from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Shanard is able to skillfully provide enhanced outcomes for her patients. Dr. Shanard is also the only accredited Cosmetic Dentist in the state of Vermont. 

At her Williston, VT practice, Dr. Shanard performs a wide variety of dental procedures and treatments in order to improve the overall oral health of her patients and renovate the appearance of their smiles. As a part of cosmetic dentistry, she offers porcelain veneers, smile makeovers, teeth whitening, and tooth-colored fillings. The restorative procedures she performs include dental bonding and contouring, dental bridges, dental crowns, full-mouth restoration, inlays and onlays, root canal therapy, and tooth extractions. Additionally, Dr. Shanard offers bone grafting, implant-retained dentures, implant-retained bridges, and implant-retained crowns for patients in need of implant dentistry options. In order to provide preventive and maintenance care, Dr. Shanard also conducts routine dental examinations and cleanings, as well as periodontal services. For patients who experience fear or anxiety about receiving dental care, Dr. Shanard’s office offers oral-conscious and nitrous oxide sedation to help them feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the treatment process.

Dr. Shanard graduated from the University of Iowa School of Dentistry in 1988, followed by an intensive, year-long, advanced general dentistry residency. Next, she moved to the Burlington, VT area, where she was part of a group practice for seven years. In 1995, she opened Contemporary Dental Arts, a practice devoted to reconstructive, general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry.

As part of her dedication to providing her patients with the most promising and effective techniques and technologies available, Dr. Shanard frequently participates in continuing education programs. Each year, she logs 50 – 100 hours in master level courses. This allows her to stay up-to-date in the advancements that continue to develop in the dental industry.

When she is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Shanard is usually spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. She lives in Burlington, VT with her son, Jacob, and enjoys Alpine skiing, water skiing, and running. Dr. Shanard also enjoys wine tasting, relaxing with friends, and mostly hanging out with her son either at home or in the mountains of Vermont.
